Was this news server written with NetMasters or what?? Too many open
connections or some lame excuse like that?? Does it not have a timeout or
other feature that would dump idle connections?
Would someone at Borland please get this news server fixed, or see to it
that the person that can't seem to get the job done be reassigned to
gardening or something else that can be done over a period of time???
I have a DSL line and have been unable to connect from as early as 5:30 am
Central time. You are going to have a hard time convincing me that the
server is busy with lots of people discussing a 3 day old merger
announcement at 5:30 in the morning, because when I am actually able to
connect, there aren't that many new posts. (which would lead me to believe
that most other people can't connect either). It is rare that I am able to
connect and download all my subscription content without hanging for at
least 5 or 10 minutes. I have my timeout set at 5 minutes and I still get
the "your nntp server has not responded for 300 seconds" message.
This is unacceptable seeing that Borland lists its newsgroups as a support
and information resource.
Is there something that we can provide to help??
Perhaps Borland should check into the News Server that Microsoft or Netscape
uses!! They are always up and always fast!
