I just recently installed BDS 2006 onto Vista Ultimate. Everytime, when I
exit out of BDS 2006, Vista keeps popping up an error message that says
"Borland Developer Studio for Windows has stopped working". It then gives me
option to "Close program". The message usually appears 5-10 seconds after
BDS 2006 is trying to exit. It's as if Vista does not wait long enough for
BDS to close.

Tried turning UAC off, tried running as "Administrator", but, the problem
still exists.

Any help is appriciated.

I get the same for 2007 (no update) under Vista Home Premium. I've
assumed that it's a stray pointer somewhere and Vista's security stuff
has been alerted. I also get the cryptic message when starting in the
Delphi Messages window 'Setup.exe(1): The window does not have scroll
bars', though I don't get this if I run as Administrator.

I have Delphi Speed Up loaded but it used to do this before I loaded it,
have no solution though.

i guess your bds 2006 is causing access violations when it exits. mine
does it all the time on win xp. on win xp, "invalid pointer" message
boxes pop up, and bds must be killed using the task manager.

try turning off error insight if you can live without it. i can't, so i
just keep task manager open...

I just install Delphi 2007 Enterprise (Update 1) along side of Delphi 2006.
Delphi 2007 exits fine without error.

Try to close the open project before you close the IDE. That has fixed
all these problems for me when I still worked with BDS2006.
The problem seems to be some timing conflict with components on
design-time forms getting destroyed after stuff they need in the IDE
has already been destroyed. D2007 has resolved that.

I have tried closing all the projects before exiting BDS2006, the same error
still appears. I wonder if this is something I should worry about or I can
just safely ignore it.

If your project gets saved OK you can ignore it. The possible culprit
in this case may be an IDE add-in you have installed, but the error
cannot do any damage once the project has been closed.

Does it happen if you start the Delphi personality only?

Does not really matter which personality. I've tried clearing "Known IDE
Packages" from HKEY_USER then restart. It still gives the same error upon
exiting IDE.
