> Will BCB6 install on a Vista box?
The quick answer is: Yes. However, to use the IDE you will either have to
right-click the shortcut and choose "Run as administrator" or be sure to
never write anywhere in the program files directory -- like $(BCB)\Projects.
The latter is my preference.
BTW, this has been asked and answered many times. Do a newsgroup search
(http://groups.google.com) for "BCB6 install Vista" and you'll get a few of
them.

Well I get a couple of hits but the only topical one is my original post.
Not sure why my results are different than yours.
Googling for BCB6 and Vista pointed me to a couple with the "run
as administrator" advice.
What I really need to know is whether it will install (which sounds like
yes) and work with the versions of TeeChart and Interbase that I have.
I have a legacy product that wants an update.
At any rate, one of our developers who wasn't forced to install
Vista will take care of it. (only fair IMO)
I must confess I didn't do the search. I searched just now and was only
able to find a couple of hits using different search criteria that I knew
would work. Apparently this question hasn't been asked as many times as I
thought.

It will install and your product should be fine assuming you install the
same versions of all used components.

Or the google group search is broken again.

I probably won't have to worry now but I think the main issue would
be interbase.
I know that Vista doesn't like interactive services since I have one
app that uses a tray icon to show status of a service. (MSVC and Qt)
Under Vista, it runs but the tray icon is not shown. There's an entry in
the event
log about blocked interactive services and potential problems with your
service. Apparently MS finds this as a potential security issue.
Anyway, there seems to be a similar issue with Interbase:

Why? What problem have you encountered?
It's hanging all of a sudden, when you are in the middle of debugging.
It's been 2 weeks that I'm hurdling not to downgrade to XP. Especially
if there is an open process like music, like AutoCad.
