Are JTA 2 phase commits really reliable?

Hi,

Are JTA transactions across 2 completely different DB servers really reliable?  What happens if one of them lose their network connectivity after the first phase of commit (assuming both responded positively in first phase)?

They are reliable, based on my learning from conversations with peers.

I've not considered experimenting with them though (never mind not
using them yet).

Thanks Sriram.  Actually this Stack Overflow comment made me wonder.

So wanted to see if anyone here has had real problems with JTA on multiple data sources or if that comment was just theoretical.
