In their essence, Abhidharma teachings are about the secret and profound nature of mind and existence in general. These teachings reveal the true meaning of emptiness which is extensively taught in Madhyamika texts. These teachings go deeper into the secret functions of mind and the concepts that are born from mind.  Abhidharma teachings are the real ground of the prajnaparamita (the perfection of wisdom) teachings.

 

Mahamudra teachings are the direct gateway to the Dharmakaya state.  Through Mahamudra we can learn the highest meditation techniques which enable us to explore the depth of mind, feelings, and emotions; this then can instantly free us from their traps.

 

Texts: (1) Gateway To Knowledge, by Jamgon Mipham Rinpoche, Vol. I, Chapters 1 – 3, The Aggregates or Skandhas, The Elements or Dhatus, and The Sense Sources or Ayatanas -- what we are and how we function - available through Rangjung Yeshe Publications and Amazon. 

And (2) Mahamudra: The Moonlight - The Quintessence of Mind and Meditation, by Dakpo Tashi Namgyal - available through Wisdom Publications and Amazon.  Purchasing the texts and reading ahead is recommended but not required.

 

Khenpo Tsering Samdup began his Buddhist training at the Shri Karma Nalanda Institute at Rumtek in Sikkim, a college of higher Buddhist studies founded by the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa. After completing 9 years of study there, he received the degree of Acharya (Master of Philosophy) in 1990. Tsering then continued as a teacher at Nalanda for one year before being sent by Shamar Rinpoche to teach at the Karmapa International Buddhist Institute in New Delhi. Over the next 6 years, his time was spent teaching at KIBI and throughout Europe, Southeast Asia and America. He now divides his time between teaching at KIBI in India and throughout the Americas.

8:45 am Meditation

Break

10 am – 1pm Morning Session

1pm – 2:30 pm Lunch – Pot Luck, bring food to share if you can.

2:30 – 4:30 pm Afternoon Session

Registration and Suggested Donation

Entire Course - Pre-registration by June 3, 2012, $140/$125 (Bodhi Path members from any Center), “day of the event” - $160.  Inquire about partial attendance prices.

 

All are welcome.  No one turned away for lack of funds.  Suggested donation supports the cost of the program.  An additional voluntary donation to thank and support the teacher is appreciated.
