Sunday 1st April - Janek Gwizdala & Bob Reynolds
Tonight's gig features some very special guests from the USA. Janek
Gwizdala, originally from London, but now resident in the states for
over 10 years is widely regarded as one of the finest bass playing
talents in the world today. He has been touring as a band leader and
working as musical director or sideman with some of the most respected
names in the industry such as Randy Brecker, Mike Stern and Airto
Moreira. Bob Reynolds is a saxophonist who has been described as an
architect of melody whose philiosophy is to play music that challenges
the mind and soothes the soul. He currently plays in John Mayer's band
but has also released several of his own jazz albums. Completing the
line up are Louie Palmer on drums and Simon Carter on piano.

Sunday 8th April - Rob Hughes Quartet
Rob is a saxophonist who has previously brought his band "The London
Experiment" to Boaters. Tonight's gig showcases a new line up and new
material which explores a more acoustic sound and also incorporates some
interesting use of loops and samples. This is part of a series of
performances which will culminate in a live recording for his next
album. The band also features Roger Beaujolais on vibes, Henrick Jenson
on bass and drummer Francesco Mendolia.

Sunday 15th April - Mornington Lockett
Mornington is one of the finest tenor saxophonists this country has to
offer and one of the most popular visitors to Boaters, having appeared
here more times than any other guest since the gig began in 1990. Over
the years he has been a member of Ronnie Scott's band, the Jim Mullen
Quartet, and more recently "Celebrating the Jazz Couriers". The line up
is completed by two more of Boaters' favourite visitors - Laurence
Cottle on bass and drummer Ian Thomas, along with pianist Simon Carter.

Sunday 22nd April - Sun 22nd - Kieron Garrett Quartet with Dave
O'Higgins
Kieron is a Kingston based pianist and composer who has recently
recorded his debut album of original music entitled "It's Time",
featuring one of the UK's finest saxophonists Dave O'Higgins. The
Quartet has already played at some of London's most famous jazz venues
such as The 606 Club and The Bull's Head in Barnes. Kieron's playing has
been compared to that of Chick Corea, so expect to hear a selection of
original fusion compositions and some classics from the likes of Weather
Report, Herbie Hancock and, of course, Chick Corea. Joining Kieron and
Dave are Mike Pratt on bass, and drummer Pete Cumber.

Sunday 29th April - Sun 29th - Tommy Blaize

You will probably have heard him many times as he is one of the featured
singers on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. He has provided backing
vocals for artists such as Craig David, Connor Reeves and Lewis Taylor
and his voice has been heard on dozens of adverts and radio station
idents. Tommy's much anticipated first album has just been released so
don't miss this opportunity to catch him live in an intimate setting.
Tonight's line up is completed by Simon Carter (piano), Phil Mulford
