An Analysis of Vibration for Airborne Neonatal Transport Incubator
Featured Speaker: Reza Aghili
Lab Manager (Rank - ESCG)
Vibration and Acoustic Test Facility (VATF)
Johnson Space Center (JSC) / NASA
Overview: A study is being performed to minimize the environmental effects of transportation on neonates. When premature children are born away from the hospital, they are transported to the Texas Children's Hospital to be cares for. The neonates are extremely sensitive to the environmental effects, and this study seeks to understand the sources and minimize the effects of sources such as vibration and noise. This presentation discusses the results of the studies made at the Texas Children's Hospital and the Johnson Space Center Vibration and Acoustic Test Facility.
Reza Joined the Space Program out of college in 1990. Reza has performed structural analysis, design, testing, and mission specific support at NASA for over 21 years. Biomedical is his love. He is a volunteer in a local hospital. He chose to have a "Use of Magnetically Levitated Micro-robots in Surgery" as his undergraduate research project, and has taken several related courses such as Human anatomy and physiology, a course in "Adaptation in connective tissues" in local university, and has completed the mini-medical school courses offered by UTMB. The Texas Children's Incubator project has been another joyful opportunity to be involved in biomedical field.
