Subject: Re: [bloggerDev] Dynamic Views: Fallback For Javascript Blocking?

Alain-Christian,
Just wanted to say thank you for your timely response.  It  would appear that customer satisfaction means little these days.  I hope they find their "pie-in-the sky" by doing it "their way".  I am certain that I am not alone when I say they have done a disservice to those of us who were counting on them maintaining a certain amount of professionalism.  It strikes me in a very negative way to have the rug pulled out from under us without any warning and without giving "us" an opportunity to make other arrangements.
Thanks again for being receptive to my concerns.
Best wishes,
Maxie Weaver

It's out of Blogger's control, Maxi. Word on the twittersphere is they decided to nix the embedded music thing. Many users are unhappy about this. I tried to find an official blog or FAQ or something but my search turned up empty. From the looks of the site I think they want people doing the social networking thing on their terms. They want you to listen on their site and I guess see their advertising or whatever.

It's time to find an alternative, Maxie.

Brett,
I wanted to say thank-you for sending me the feed back your received from Alain Christian.  If I read between the lines, it would appear there is no way to incorporate playlist.com music into my blog? or any other music service?

I will be the first to admit I have only a minimal understanding of what Alain Christian was saying, but it looks like an incompatibility issue?

I sincerely appreciate any help you might offer regarding this seemingly insignificant issue.  To me it is an issue that will signigicantly impact my blog.
Any suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a bunch!

I don't use Dynamic Views for one very important reason: doesn't work without JavaScript. But not only does it not work without JavaScript, users unfamiliar with the dynamic views—who are security-focused and have JavaScript turned off by default for new sites—are greeted with a blank page. It's not the only reason. I'd probably never use Dynamic Views because it takes away so much branding/customization potential. But I think for those people out there who do use it there should be some kind of failsafe. A message at the very least explaining they need to turn on JavaScript. Perhaps the message could be browser/OS-specific? Maybe a little infographic that shows them how to enable JavaScript for the *.blogger.com or *.blogspot.com domains?

There's a lot of us out there browsing this way. It's why I try to squeeze and do so much with blogger's XML markup as opposed to using JavaScript.

Anyway, food for thought.
