Subject: og:image and image_src vs. rel=publisher and rel=author

Hi guys,

Taking into consideration the linking of Blogger blogs to G+ accounts, and
the additions of meta information being supplied by the settings in a
Blogger site, currently seeing that the linked profile image for the G+
account takes priority over the og:image thumbnail that is created in the
Google Rich Snippets tester:

http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?view=cse&url=http...

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better method to achieve this goal
of having the thumbnail image for the blog post be shown instead of the
connected author profile?

Thank you!

-David

I add this tag to my IMG tag images so that it picks the correct one.

 itemprop="image"

If G+ sees this it will show it first by default.

Hi Andy,

While great for G+, I'm trying to get it to show the thumbnail for that
image in the Google search results in the rich snippet. Using your site as
an example it is showing the thumbnail for your G+ icon and a link to that
instead of using the specified thumbnail in your own pages:
http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?url=http%3A%2F%2F...

Could it be because the thumbnail images aren't hosted on the same domain
as the page?

I've tried removing the G+ badget but now it just isn't linking to the
author, and still isn't showing the thumbnail.

Ah I see what you mean, sorry I misunderstood the question :)

For og:image I actually hard code that to our logo rather than any image in
the posts.

I think you'll need to set og:image to point to one of the images on your
actual post.

Hopefully Brett from Google will be able to answer that for sure. I've not
played around too much with the search indexing aspect.

Part of what is odd to me is that the standard Blogger templates do provide
thumbnail for posts in the head such as:

<link rel="image_src" href="URL-OF-THUMBNAIL.jpg" />

But this doesn't seem to be used in the schema nor picked up and displayed
in Google search results.

(obviously confused)
