Same problem here -- turned on ProFTPd's full logging and Blogger **is
NOT even connecting**. There's no Google IP addresses in Proftpd.log
since around noon when another person I host published at that time.
I can FTP in both locally at the server, and remotely from my home
internet. This appears more broken than the previous problem when
Blogger would still upload things anyways even if it couldn't detect
completion. Not even connecting to my FTP server means something is
really messed up.

Yep, we've seen this problem before. No image upload and FTP is
busted. I'm on Yahoo hosting if it makes any difference.
It's worth telling the newbies that this is not their fault and not to
be shy about voicing their concerns. During the day, blogger ususally
answers these problems when enough people speak up. A couple of weeks
ago when this happened I started a comment thread that got about 50
replies and various other threads were started as well.
Be patient everyone don't forget to come back and report if it's still
not working.
Same here - have been FTPing my blog fine then this evening I get
"your blog is taking longer than expected to publish"and that's it. No
error messages, transfer details, doesn't even look like it's
connecting at all. I can FTP to my site just in fine using WS_FTP so I
know things on that side are fine. Any Blooger Admin's reading this -
can you sort this out ASAP please??
I, too, have been unable to get beyond the "your post is taking longer
than expected to publish." This little message has become more and
more common recently and I initially thought it had something to do
with the size of my main blog, but I can't even get my short (like 10
posts long) blog to publish now. Also, my site's FTP is working
smoothly. They've never taken more than an hour or two to fix this
sort of problem, either, so I suspect that the issue is almost
certainly on Blogger's end.) Which, I suppose, is to be expected with
such a large operation.
Been trying for the last few hours no joy. Does anyone know if there's
a way to manually FTP posts, what would I have to edit? No problem
FTPing files (images/videos etc), they show on the server and when I
preview the post.
There must be a way to FTP the posts directly, but I'm assuming the
index file or template might have to be edited.
Sucks :-(

Same problem here. I've tried using an IP address, SFTP, FTP,
ftp.servername, servername, and always the same problem:
"Your publish is taking longer than expected. To continue waiting for
it to finish, click here."
Sometimes I find I can get it working with another browser, but not
this time. I've been trying for about 75 minutes.

Mine was working up until about 1800 CDT, so we're up to eight hours
or so without being able to push. Had some intermittent problems
pretty much all of Monday.
