I can't switch to blogspot, can't have them dictating what
content I have, etc. If necessary I will
switch to wordpress, PHP software you can put on your own website;
it's ugly compared to blogger
but it works consistently.
Yes. We agree. Blogger FTP is having more and more issues. The main is
image upload. Has not been working for 2 days. We may have to move to
another blogging software. Blogger hosting is not an option for us b/c
we need full control.
It'll suck to migrate to something else, but we cannot work with this
unpredictability and cannot lose productivity like this.
We'd even pay monthly to blogger if they can handle these issues for
paying customers.
VERY VERY CURIOUS WHY Google DOES NOT admit this is an issue?

Cmon blogger ... we're all waiting ................. if 50+ of us have
posted here you can imagine how many are really having problems.
And even though this service is free you still make money from it and
you know it. It's called adsense which you offer to everyone who
starts a blog plus branding of the name plus a link to blogger.com
from each of us ....
I must admit I'm kind of surprised at some of the apparent anger over
this issue. Sure it's frustrating but anyone who desires a guaranteed
"up time" needs to find a service for $$ that can/will guarantee their
service.
Good idea starting this thread. Hopefully the number of responses
will cause this problem to bubble to the top of blogger's priority
list.
I am sooooooooo fed up with this, especially about the fact that the
Blogger profis must read all these cries for help and do not even put
the problem in the official list of problems. In English, that is
called 'having an attitude', I think. Disrespectful is another word
that pops into my mind.

I have asked the BS people numerous time to offer a PAID SERVICE to
get attention when there is a problem.
Not "MORE ATTENTION" just a tiny bit of attention.
But when you get GOOGLE big you don't really give a shit about
individuals.
They are messing with a lot of good folks who have 1000's of combined
vistors to their blogs.
I can still TEXT PUBLISH (the publishing DOES NOT CONFIRM----BUT CLICK
ON 'VIEW' & REFRESH AND THE TEXT WILL PUBLISH!) AND I WILL CONTINUE TO
POST TEXT OF THIS BLOGSPOT PROBLEM.

Many times I have defended the functionality of blogger against the
cult of wordpress. But if I can't post at all what is there to
defend? This has hapened intimittantly foe days at a time over what
must now be years. never any explanation, no warning, no resolution
message.

Of course I don't know anything, but I think google is tired of
providing a dumbed-down version of their
weblog software for us ftp/sftp users. There must not be enough of
us to make
it worth their developers time.
Maybe this is their way of getting us to either get in line, or get
out. And it'll work too.
I gotta say...this is my first notable negative experience with
google. I hope it's not a sign of the times.
For the web historians: the of blogging in May 08:
"Your publish is taking longer than expected. To continue waiting for
it to finish, click here."
Thanks, Google ... and don't call me ungrateful, they're making
billions, and rightly so ... but come on ... I want to upload some -
text- to a blog ... big request there ...
We're really sorry about this. Blogger is aware of the problem and
looking into it, unfortunately we don't have much more information
about it at the moment. Thank you for your patience.

I notice that I no longer get the "taking too long" message. Now it
just keeps going, "publishing your files"... forever. When will it
end? I'll leave it runnning overnight and see if it is still
publishing in the morning.
What would be really good, for both Blogger and its FTP users, would
be a downloadable version of Blogger, so that we can publish to our
servers direct rather than all using Googles. I suspect that a lot of
these problems are just due to server space - millions of blogs,
searches, and the plethora of other Google applications must be
overheating Mr. Google's computer by now!

Ok, just watched the end of a documentary about Syd Barret (I loved
him back in the 90's) and then watched Starship Troopers (should be
considered a cult classic) and drank waaaay too much jd, and still, I
am publishing.
So, my question is. WHAT AM I PUBLISHING ??????????????????
To take this long I must be publishing most of what happened between
JR being shot and the birth of Motleyhhealth.com
Maybe in the later morning, when I am merely hungover, everything ill
be clear..........................................
Cmon. Glitch rules. Poor computers operated by mere humans. How can
better be expected? When the Day Arrives when every customer makes a
corporation will computers care? Asimov hasn't asked.

?? About Blogger FTP hang, errors, fail, refused??
Blogger's regular failure gets frustrating. Y'know, the years go by
after awhile.
Blogger Support shows up a few times in Help Support Forum and
says FTP is a problem they are trying to make better. AND in the last
few days there are 50, 100, 100s of posts about failures with Blogger
FTP. Take a look around.

A number of sites hosted by Network Solutions having the very same
problem. I worked with Network Solutions long enough (they were GREAT)
to know that the problem was on the Blogger end. After about five
weeks, the problem disappeared.
I am much dismayed for Blogger to be not delivering again.
No, text isn't working for me today. I posted a note in "Something is
Broken" and have followed this since April when Blogger FTP publishing
became unreliable for many, including my blog page. If not enough
people complain vocally, Blogger doesn't visibly do anything about it.
The reaction recently, in which a problem was acknowledged and then
declared fixed, seemed a response to a spike in complaints that nature
of which was consistant with the error reporting that's gone on for
the last six to eight weeks (at least). I got sick of reading
unofficial posts in which the only aim was to suggest that FTP
publishing failure was always a consequence of the user and his host
and
stopped noting the problem on this forum. However, publishing has
worked only intermittently and
certainly not logically or reliably.
