I am attempting to create a blog from scratch (www.weareallscrewed.com). I currently own the domain name through GoDaddy, and I am hosting the site on my personal server at my home. when I attempt to publish a post, I get the following errors:
You blog published with errors
/2007_11_01_archive.html String Index out of range: -27 /index.html String index out of range: -27
...you get the point. all the files that Blogger is attempting to create have the same error
HOWEVER....the folders themselves are created (i.e. archives, labels) that the files are intended to be in, but not the actual files.
In checking my FTP log files, I can see Blogger accessing my site and making a connection (as evidenced by the folder creation). I've created a login name strictly for that that has full access, and I am able to access the site via an FTP client using the same login information
Any ideas? I'm usually good at this troubleshooting, but I'm stumped.
I'm having troubles with FTP publishing too: I get ethe "Your publish is taking longer than expected. To continue waiting for it to finish, click here" message all the time, but some of the times they get proprerly published anyway. Some times they don't. I've been a FTP publisher for more than 3 years now and I must say that this is an area where Blogger is and always has been getting worse. I now have problems publishing most of my posts and I think Blogger should pay some attention to this.

I am unable to post via FTP. Problem reproducible with 2 different blogs on 2 different servers.
Add me to that list of troubled FTP publishers-- "Taking longer than expected" When I click on "Display transfer details" it's done some work, uploaded 9 files, but those are all labels that should not have been affected by the post.

Same here. I have been a Blogger for a year, publishing via FTP to http://www.svsoggypaws.com/blog/ It has previously worked flawlessly.
I haven't published in about a week. Today it is hit or miss (mostly miss). When I am publishing interactively, or uploading photos, I get the response "Your publish is taking longer than expected. To continue waiting for it to finish, click here."
I checked my publish settings in the Blogger control panel. I checked that a normal FTP logon works fine.
I cannot upload photos (well, one got done). And I cannot publish updates (well, once half of it worked then stopped at 32%). Several email posts never got uploaded either (though they are available in in the console when I log onto Blogger).
I have tried using both IE (6.0) and Firefox (2.0.0.8 AND absolute latest version).

I have been using Blogger for 4 years and I have not had a problem so annoying as this.
"Your publish is taking longer than expected. To continue waiting for it to finish, click here."
No clue as to a possible fix. No way of updating my blog. Just the same old nonsense error message over and over. Please tell me how to transfer my blog elsewhere..

I"ve been unable to publish my Classic Blogger blog via FTP to my own web host for the past 12-14 hours. Like others here, I'm getting the "Your publish is taking longer than expected. To continue waiting for it to finish, click here" message everytime. I've confirmed several times over the past few hours that I can transfer to & from my hosted space via WS_FTP Pro software, so this is NOT an issue with my host.
I've been a FTP publisher for more than 5 years and this just keeps getting spottier and spottier. This has got to be remedied!
I have checked my ftp as well and it is fine. As I only just joined last week it is not an issue for me to transfer to WordPress or something like that, if this doesn't get remedied soon.

Same thing here... For a bit more than 24 hours. Right now, I'm attempting to Publish my Weblog and all I'm getting is the "Your publish is taking longer than expected..." message.
What's going on ?
There's nothing about this issue in Blogger Status.

The wheel on the blog goes round and round, Round and round, Round and round.
The wheel on the blog goes round and round, All day long.
I´ve being using blogger for publishing several blogs that, togheter, compose my website. The site i used to update everyday. Now, every time i hit publish i have to pray, because the "Your publication is taking more than expected" always is there, waiting to piss me. I´m publishing to FTP as everybody here. I don´t know how this info is useful but i´m still using the old blogger (wich shouldn´t be a problem at all)
Please solve this! Additionally i´m having problems uploading images!

Thanks to everyone for reporting these issues and I apologize for the inevitable frustration that comes from publishing issues. It seems that we're experiencing a server-related error, which we're quickly working to resolve. Please keep an eye on this thread I pinned, for an update on this issue: http://groups.google.com/group/blogger-help-publishing/browse_frm/thr...
