I am now publishing my blog via FTP with my Yahoo!Small Business
Account.
Follow these steps:
1.Create a new FTP username and password (under small business
home/"manage" tab/password manager)--then click link to grant access
to whole site to new user.
2. In blogger's FTP settings in the FTP Username field, input new
username (newusername @ yourwebsite.com--without those spaces of
course) and new
password.
There's a long explanation in etest's message about what happened--how
he figured this out. Check it out.
still no joy for me! I gave ftp access to a different user account,
but I get an error message saying that blogger couldn't open the ftp
session.
Trying it with my old account doesn't give that error, but it doesn't
publish either.

I got that same error message too, at first, cause I only put the new
username in the "FTP Username" field in Blogger's publishing settings.
For example. If your new Yahoo FTP username is user2, then in the
Blogger "FTP Username" field you must type in user2 @ yourwebsite.com.
(But don't leave in those spaces... everytime I typed in with the
spaces, this board reads it as an email address and converts it to
[email].)

Also, once you've added the new FTP user/password in Small Business,
be sure to click the link that says "Enable FTP access" in the "FTP
Access Point" column. This gives that new username access to publish
on your whole site. For some reason, when I specified access only to
publish to my blog subdirectory, it errored out.

Made this change, and finally got blogger to publish a post but ....
no post appears on the blog itself. don't know enough about any of
this to know if there's something in the code that appears on
blogger's publishing page beneath the "Your Blog Published
Successfully" prompt that should be a red flag to me (it all looks
normal enough), but i'm now one of two steps away from getting my
first post in two weeks up.
is this maybe a cache thing that takes a while to take effect, or did
you have success as soon as you entered the new username and password?

This is gonna sound weird, but... The same thing happened to me. And I
looked in my subdirectory where I'm publishing my blog (called "blog")
and another subdirectory folder INSIDE the blog folder had been
created also called "blog". I deleted that folder, cleared cache,
refreshed blog page and it started working. I don't know if I had
created that folder during this past week of madness (and hadn't
realized it), or if something in this process made it happen. But
check that out?

I don't have a double @ in my username, but I created a new username
on my Yahoo Small Business website anyway. I tried publishing with
Blogger to the new username, and I got the same problem -- it's taking
longer than expected to publish, etc.
Next I tried changing the password to an incorrect password, just to
see if it was even getting to the username and password check, and it
isn't. It doesn't look like Blogger is even contacting my website at
all.

Hmm. I didn't have a double @ sign in my address either. I didn't
quite understand that point, so I didn't rely too much on trying to
figure it out. I just followed her/his instructions. I just created a
new username, (e.g. "user2") and new password, saved it, then clicked
link to "Enable FTP access". Then, when I changed my FTP settings in
blogger, I had to (for whatever reason) input user2 @ mywebsite.com
(or your new user name,@sign,your website). Then new password. And you
did all that and still no change?

Yes. I created new username at Yahoo website control panel, enabled
it for FTP access, put new username and new password in publishing
settings for Blogger, and same thing. Still cannot publish. Go
figure.

Lordy! I fiddled around with a few things, and got my blog to publish
once. But now I can't get it to publish again. Here's what I did.
Mostly I'm just trying crazy stuff -- everything and anything to try
and get the darn thing to publish.
On the new username, I changed the access point to "Reset FTP access
to entire site." I think it was already set that way, but I reset it
just in case. Then I changed the password on the new username,
thinking that maybe a password with a number in it could be a
problem. Crazy, I know, but who knows?
I tried publishing, and it worked! Much to my surprise. Then I
decided to try and get to the root of the problem.
I also changed the password on my original username, and reset that
one to access the entire site. That didn't work. It wouldn't publish
that way.
Next I tried changing the password on the new username to one with a
number in it. Nope. Now the new username wouldn't work anymore,
either.
I changed everything back to the way it was, and now neither of them
will work again. Is Blogger toying with me? Are they TRYING to drive
me crazy? Is this your idea of a joke Blogger?

Tried every trick in the book, included the one mentioned here about
changing FTP username and password, and STILL won't work. Ohmygosh
this is SOOOO frustrating!!
Now I'm getting 530 errors when I try to publish -- "Your FTP session
could not be opened." And yet it works fine with my "new" username
and password on Filezilla, the same username and password I'm giving
to Blogger. What the heck is going on here? Things are changing by
the minute.

Fundamentally, no one knows what the problem is. And if you dive in
and start making random changes
to settings that had previously worked, one can get into a state where
you forget what youractual conditions were in the first place. When
that happens and the same old/same old non-publishing loop kicks in,
it may seem like Blogger is now producing a different error. But it's
the same error, probably, and the fiddling didn't fix it in the first
place. Which is why it's difficult to follow all the varied advices
offered which, seemingly inevitably, have not worked.
It requires someone from Blogger with knowledge of the system to
address it because the "your publish is taking..." loop is not an
error message that returns any type of useful information.
I would recommend that everyday the problem persists, someone start at
least one new thread on it, or -- better -- more than one. I know it's
not recommended because the help/etiquette files from Blogger say it
makes problems difficult to sort out. Guess what? It's definitely gone
beyond difficult to sort out and that happened at least a week or two
ago. So observing Google Blogger help etiquette is pointless.
Actually, it's dumb because good behavior isn't returned.
Take a look at how the two "sticky" posts have obscured the listing
for as long as I've been checking in recently. That's just boorish.
Why not put them in every discussion forum as "sticky" so they obscure
the initial listings for everyone seeking help?

having added a new ftp user and creating a new password, I now get
messages saying that my blog has successfully published, and sure
enough when I look on my server, the files are there. BUT I can't view
these new posts in Internet Explorer, and my blog still hasn't
updated! This is getting pretty frustrating...is anyone from Blogger
looking at these threads??

Yeah, as a solution this really works great, don't it? That's
rhetorical. I feel sorry for those who've tried it, tied themselves in
a knot, and still no function. There's no obvious reason why it should
work.

I need to thank those of you above me on this topic. I've been having
trouble for about a week. I have close to a thousand postings and
thought that I might have reached blogger or yahoo's limit and would
have to try something else.
Instead, I created a "user2" at the small business management screen,
changed my blogger settings and republished....only to get the same
duplicate folder mentioned above. The nested folder was correct, the
usual one was out of date. I deleted the nested one, rechecked
blogger settings, saw that I had specified an FTP pathway that for
some reason is needed by the original user, but unnecessary for the
user2 I just created. So I left the "FTP Pathway" field blank and it
published as it's supposed to.
This entire process makes no sense, by the way. Why would a "user2"
work, where the original user wouldn't?
I'm sure this isn't the last problem we'll encounter with a blogger/
yahoo combination.

I've been having this problem since Friday and still no luck. Except
for changing my password, I've been using the same settings on my
Yahoo small business account to host my blog on my domain since 2004.
I started a new thread on this, but still no luck.

This did not work for me. In the process, though, two posts that
supposedly "published" several days ago finally showed up on my blog.
However, the post I just wrote and published today will not show up.
