My domain setting didn't have the ftp. prefix on it I could take away,
so I guess I'm out of luck for the moment. I'm investigating switching
to wordpress!

Regarding the solution mentioned above... I was already using just
domain.com without the ftp. So I changed it to ftp.domain.com. This
leads me to believe that maybe there just needs to be an update of
some kind in that field. Try any kind of change at all and republish
to see if it works.

take "ftp" (if that's the case) off you server address and put "www."
in front of it. If it didn't have "ftp" in the first place, just put
"www." (www.yourserver.com). It worked for me.
I just got fed up and went through every variation of publishing
including going through each one of these choices for publishing:
Switch to: • blogspot.com (Blogger's free hosting service) •
Custom Domain (Point your own registered domain name to your blog)
• SFTP (secure publishing on your ISP server) - AND FTP
Then in the "FTP Server" section, I tried all variations of
"www.loganlo.com" "ftp.loganlo.com" and "loganlo.com"
Right now, I'm publishing using:
"You're publishing using FTP" and "ftp.loganlo.com"
I was shocked when it didn't return the error after a dozen or so
tries.
Just tried it again to see if it was a fluke and we're good to go!

I am still having the problem, not sure what was fixed, but still not
resolved for me.
I logged in today and found a post that one of my authors had
published, but it wasn't showing on the blog. It is in the admin
panel, but when I try to republish my blog to refresh the content I
get the following error over and over again:
Your blog published with errors.
java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out
I cannot change my domain b/c it goes to a specific server that my
hosting company has so the domain is actually a subdomain (not ftp. or
www.)

Yes, this too was the first time in a LONG time i have had any issues
publishing! I too removed the ftp. from my ftp domain and it worked.
Why did this break? Has anyone heard of a valid reason for this?
This is a pretty major issue, IMHO!

The settings fix worked for me as well. But as of today the error is
back... anyone else getting these problems although you have changed
ftp.domain to just domain?
And what is Blogger doing about this? This is getting terribly
annoying.

I have just tried to make a blog for my website and I was wondering if
my server didn't support blogger but now I see is a problem with
blogger itself. Is there a way to know when this get fixed, or I'll
have to try each day until it works?
I ran into this problem earlier this week. I renamed the FTP server
from domain to ftp.domain and it published just fine. Once. As of this
morning, I'm back to the timeout error. I've tried with both
ftp.domain and domain and neither is working.
I can't believe that nobody from Google is looking into this!
During my investigation, I found that my LIBOR blog would publish just
fine, but my Prime Rate blog was dead because of this
"java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out" error. Now, these
two blogs are published to the same domain name:
MY FIX: Go to SETTINGS > PUBLISHING. The first setting is for "FTP
Server." Instead of entering your domain name, enter the IP address,
then try to publish.
It's a good thing I have multiple blogs with Blogger, or I may never
have found this solution. It's also a good thing that, in the Blogger
settings, I use my IP address with some blogs, and the domain name
with others. Of course, I'll be changing to all IP addresses today.
I sincerely hope this works for everyone else. I know how frustrating
a problem like this can be, especially when you have over 100 user
subscribed to your feed!
