I have a blog called ColonyWorlds.blogspot.com that I am trying to migrate over to ColonyWorlds.com .
Problem is, it keeps telling me that:
"Another blog is already hosted at this address."
Now, I've already checked the server and I DO NOT have a blog over at that address. And the ironic thing is, I can create a blog.colonyworlds.com address, a blog1.colonyworlds.com, heck, I can even create darnellisagooglefreak.colonyworlds.com but it won't let me create a blog at colonyworlds.com .
All my other weblogs seem to work on other domains except this one. I am about to give up as I do not see any problems on my web hosts end. I'll give them a quick call, but they will probably tell me exactly what I am seeing: there is no blog there (as I don't even have hosting hooked up to that web address).
It's a weekend, so I do not expect Uncle Google to come to the rescue until next week. But if Uncle Google (or Auntie for the ladies) could provide a solution, I would definitely be a very happy blogger.
I'm having a similar problem. I have vulnerableminds.blogspot.com and have been using that for a month or two. Just this past few weeks I set up a google custom domain, and spent today using the tutorial provided for setting up domain specific blogspot accounts.
For some reason at this point my blog doesn't resolve at all, though my googlepages webpage does resolve.
I'm not sure what the issue is, but I think it's conflicts with the ghs.google.com between the blog (which should be resolving at blog.vulnerableminds.com) and my main page (www.vulnerableminds.com). At least so says my DNS.
Anyone have any problems like this or know a solution?
Ah. Looks like I'm not the only one with the same problem. I am also trying to use my personal domain (thru godaddy.com) and forward my blogger to that. I'm not sure what is up.
Maybe I need to wait and be patient. I changed the CNAME record on godaddy.com and it may take a few days? I will wait and see.
NOTE: This is just a working theory, and unless Uncle Google can provide some insight into this dilemma, then I think they may want to implement my "solution" below.
If you try to publish to your blogspot domain and get this error:
"Another blog is already hosted at this address."
This may be due to the fact that someone mistakingly took your domain so a blogger half way around the world may have it "registered" as attached to their weblog when in reality you own the domain.
Say I want to publish to a domain called "cheeseheadlimited.com" via blogger. Ironically, a swiss person may own the domain and want a blogspot publishing to that domain as well.
But since I did it first (out of curiosity) Google thinks the domain belongs to me (first come, first serve) instead of the swill lady. So, she gets an error on her Google Account while I have it reserved for my weblog, but cannot really publish there.
What Google needs to do is find someway to create a validation system (what we had in Google Apps) by having users create a web page with a bunch of numbers (like 4543254253google.html) to validate you really own the domain.
This would (IMHO) resolve this issue and make everyone very happy.
This problem occur when you have a Google Apps with you myname.com domain. For use Blogger Custom Domain, you need DISABLE the Google Apps Domain Page for the subdomain www.

I'm using FTP publishing for my blog : www.DelhiEvents.com & want to switch to custom domain but keep using my FTP for subfolders for images & scripts. Will that work fine once i switch to custom domain.
Have you gotten an answer on this or gotten it to work? Blogger custom domains seems to support EITHER example.com OR www.example.com but not both. Can we get confirmation on this from the Blogger team?
