how do I upload a favicon to my site and make it show up in my url?

Hi,
first you should create a favicon its .ico file, (if you don't have
one), after upload it(I recommend googlepages),
log in your dashboard --> layout --> HTML
add this
<link href='http://your.googlepages.com/myicon.ico' rel='icon'
type='image/x-icon'/>
<link href='http://your.googlepages.com/myicon.ico' rel='shortcut
icon'/>
just before </head> tag
save your template, if you need help how to create a .ico file tell me

It's the "upload it" step that I am completely in the dark about. Once
I create the icon, how do I upload it to my page (or to wherever you
suggested)? Thanks for helping.

Yes, I'm using Blogger. Is that what you mean by "google pages"? I
don't mean to be obtuse, but I'm really not versed in any of this.

Ok. I tried google pages. They are no longer accepting registrations.
They are transitioning google pages to some other presentation. Should
I try something else?
