Happy New Year!
This year promises to be eventful and energetic. We're starting with a meeting in Bangalore on Jan 8th, Saturday at 11 am. Location will be disclosed upon confirmation. Bring along a friend. colleague. acquaintance. family member. anyone who you
think , wants to address 'eve-teasing' and might inspire/ be inspired by the action hero spirit. email us most definitely by the 7th of Jan to confirm.
Upcoming events include an Action Heroes event across cities (Feb) and an all new internet event too (to be announced in a week).
Meet ups in other cities to be announced too. If you'd like to be involved with organizing a meet up in your city do get in touch with us right away.
A big thank you to all Action Heroes for sharing their stories with us on dealing with street sexual violence.
Thank you DiannePadmaNandini If you've got a story or a strategy on how you dealt with 'eve-teasing' you know where to send itIt doesnt have to be your story alone, it could be an urban legend, something you heard. It could also be you speaking with women around you and gathering stories.
Lastly, there's much been said in the news media about a third person getting involved to stop an 'eve teasing' situation and been harmed for doing so. We believe that these stories are true but they're not the only cases of a third person's intervention. As a result the stories perpetuate fear. We're not negating that there have been cases of attack on the person who got involved, but surely there have been cases of how the third person / the spectator / bystander made a difference. Have you been that third person who got involved? Have you got a story on how the spectator's involvement helped you when you were experiencing any form of street sexual harassment? Yes? Do send them in no later than Jan 21 subject titled thank you stranger. We're going to be sharing them on our blog about spectators.
