I am running B58 (3841) on Mac OS X 10.6.4 with Social Bookmarks
plugin version 92.

I have to manually rescan the social bookmarks by going on the item in
the catalog.

It seems to be an old issue.

1) Has anybody the same problem?

2) Has anybody a workaround? Is it possible to have a script/command
to force the scan? Something I could even run regularly in the
background, replacing the failing scanning function of Quicksilver for
that item?

Thanks!

Looking at the source for the plug-in, it tells Quicksilver to rescan if the last scan was more than 24 hours ago. (When Quicksilver rescans every 10 minutes, what it actually does is ask each individual source whether or not it needs to be updated. The delicious source only says "yes" once per day.) If it's taking longer than that for you to see changes, something is broken. Otherwise, it's just the way the plug-in was written.

If you think the hard-coded interval should be changed (or made smarter), you could file an issue for it.

It's not that I think guns, drugs, prostitution, swimming, eating and reading should be legal. It's just that no one on Earth has the authority to make them illegal.

Thanks for you reply.

I was not clear: regularly, Quicksilver looses all indexed items: it
shows nothing for Social Bookmarks. So I force the re-scan, and after
a few seconds, Quicksilver shows me 162 (the number of bookmarks I
have in Delicious). I exit the window, and I can access the bookmarks
from quicksilver.

But after some time, (I can't link to a particular event, like reboot
or other), all index bookmarks disappear again.

Olivier.

olivier - i have your exact same problem and i have had it for at
least a year if not longer. i have learnt to live with it as it occurs
once a week at most and once a month at least if memory serves me
right.

i just bring up the 'delicious bookmarks' catalog in the first QS pane
(i changed the name from social bookmarks but its the same plugin) and
then tab and rescan. takes a few seconds and its back online.

i theorized that this is happening because it sometimes fails to
connect to the delicious server and then considers the database empty.

this is by far one of my most used QS plugins and a major favorite.
i've set my delicious bookmarks catalog to show up with a ctrl-D
trigger via QS triggers. amazingly useful.

i have not found the same usefulness from the safari history plugin
partially because it needs to rescan and i feel that this type of
catalog needs to be continuously updated.

cheers.

Pendolino,

Thanks a lot for your message.

I currently had removed the catalog items from the catalog (meaning I
can not invoke the item "delicious bookmarks" to have it re-scan) but
maybe I could put them back in. Thanks for the suggestion!
