For iTunes plugin, can't use "Show playing track" when "Display track notifications" is disabled

For the iTunes plugin, I can't use "Show playing track" to see what
song is currently playing when "Display track notifications" is
disabled, which updates Growl whenever the current iTunes track
changes. Anyone know how this can be fixed?
