Since I upgraded to Firefox 3 beta, Quicksilver's firefox plugin no
longer indexes my bookmarks - which also means I've lost a lot of
custom searches I made using Firefox. Does anyone know how to fix
this?

Thanks!

add a custom catalog entry for bookmarks.postplaces.html in ~/Library/
Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/*yourffprofile*.default/ and
include html links

worked for me. hope it works for you to...

Thanks. Just to clarify - one has to add the bookmarks.html file for
this to work, not the profile folder. Then the "include HTML links"
option becomes available.

How about history? How do I add firefox 3's history to QS?

What about bookmarks stored in subfolders, such as the "unfiled
bookmarks" subfolder where everything gets automatically filed unless
I specifically move a bookmark elsewhere?

In the bookmarks.postplaces.html file, subfolders just appear as
"links" to things like "place:folder=60" that I have no idea how to
follow.

All my bookmarks are in folders, and I never had any trouble. They
just come up as html links in the bookmarks.postplaces.html file.

Also, and do tell if you see/don't see this happening, but this no
longer works for me. I don't know when it happened (right now I'm
using an intel optimized FF 3.0 beta 5) but new bookmarks aren't
appearing in the .html file. Instead, they are being stored in the new
places.sqlite file. Anyone know a trick, or do we need to wait for a
FF 3.0 QS plugin.

In the meanwhile, I'm exporting a bookmarks.html file from the FF
bookmarks organizer and pointing QS to that.

It's not working for me either. I'm using FF3B5. The bookmarks.html
file in my profile folder just lists some default Mozilla links! :(

This is what finally worked for me with Firefox 3b5:
Using the Bookmark-Manager in Firefox (Command+Shift+B), I exported
all of my current bookmarks into a new "bookmarks.html" and placed it
into the folder "~/User/*mymacosprofile*/Library/
Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/*myfirefoxprofile*.default/"
overwriting the old one.
Now all bookmarks show up with the normal Firefox plugin for
Quicksilver, adding a custom catalog entry isn't necessary.
Of course, this "bookmarks.html" is not updated, because as Zax said
they are stored in the "places.sqlite" file. But this is better than
having nothing at all, right?

Better solution to this is the following...

Open about:config in Firefox Location bar, agree that you won't mess
anything up.

Search for "browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML"

Double click it to enable it (Or right click it and hit toggle)

Restart Firefox & Quicksilver...

"browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML" makes firefox generate a new
bookmarks.html at a certain point (don't know when).

Haven't found a way to do this with History, but I don't use that and
thus don't care...

Will that auto-update qicksilver as I add new bookmarks to firefox?

Not instantaneously, but yes. Firefox re-exports the relevant file at
some time interval, and Quicksilver picks up on the changes shortly
thereafter.

browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML is not in my list of firefox rules
for some reason.

If i create a new rule for it, should I create a boolean, intergrer or
string?

Hmmm still doesn't seem to be working. Do I have to import it as a
custom catalogue or something?

You are using Firefox 3 RC1 or RC2 correct?

Seems to be working now. Strange. Quicksilver is tempermental I think.

This works perfectly in Firefox 3.

Liburukibun's browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML solution works
perfectly for Firefox3 on Mac 10.4 as an easy way to have Quicksilver
correctly index Firefox bookmarks. Thanks.
