I have been using QS for 3/4 years mainly as Application launcher.

In earlier versions when sk is typed and "enter" pressed immediately
skype was launched without having to wait for skype to get selected in
Quick Silver window... this behavior is changed in this version, when
sk is typed initially safari is selected and if "enter" pressed
immediately safari is launched and not skype.

Not sure if anyone else has the same issue. Is there a way around to
restore the previous behavior?

Thanks,
- Nano

I can confirm this too.

When my mac is running a little slower, typing "tr" (for transmission
app) instantly and pressing enter, often gives the "t" shortcut
(textmate).

Interesting,

I have seen this, but thought it was only for a newer (unreleased) build of Quicksilver that we are testing, or just my old slow computer.
I have been having the problem mainly for iCal/i..... Typing iT ↩ normally opens iCal, the default for 'i'

I have just tested ß60 and am seeing the same problem.

If you go into Quicksilver's Preferences > Click the 'command' tab and change the 'wait before searching' slider to be greater (e.g. 0.1s) does this resolve your problem?

Are you running Mac OS X Lion, and is your Mac getting on a bit (seems slower on Lion)?

Since updating my Frankenstein build from a previous Frankenstein build (neither of which can properly be referred to by a version number, but they roughly correspond to 62 and 63), I’ve felt like things are a bit slower. This was especially obvious when I set “Show other matches” to “Immediately”.

(Specifically, it looked like there was a delay registering my keystrokes but things appeared to respond as quickly as ever once they did register.)

I normally run with “Never”, and in that case, I can’t say that there’s a slow-down, but it feels like maybe there is.

I’ve been hoping to find something that’s noticeably, reproducibly slow and then git bisect to see why, but with something this subjective, it’s hard to pin down.

I can confirm the behaviour, I thought I was typing the wrong string but it's just what Nano and Derek describe.

Cheers!

I'm maybe pointing out the obvious but if you know that pressing 'T' & 'R' is the default for Transmission you don't need to press enter at all, just press 'T' then 'R' but keep the 'R' held down & it'll automatically open Transmission, assuming the default action for Transmission is 'Open'. Which it probably will be. Same for launching Skype, this time just press 'S' then hold the 'K' till it runs the "Open Skype" action.

Doesn't solve the problem but it's a quicker way to run default actions without needing to press 'Enter' & should work for the examples mentioned.

For what it's worth, I've looked into this a bit more since it has been annoying me a lot lately. Two things I have noticed:

* The problem seems to be with asynchronous loading of icons in the results view
* If you turn of the results view in Preferences > Command > Show Other Matches > Never it should solve the problems
* 10.7.2 is just terrible. It pretty much broke my old MacBook it was so slow. Developer previews of 10.7.3 are much faster and the problem's almost entirely gone (although still there a little bit)

Are you guys running 10.7.2 on old(er) Macs?

I'm running 10.7.2 on an iMac from early 2008, 2.8 GHz with 4 GB of memory, sometimes it feels slow and I think that's when I have noticed the problem.

I'm running 10.6.8 on a MBP (2010?).

I already have the "never show matches" ticked. I did a removal of the
cache, and things seem to be better now. Perhaps, you should default
to removing the cache after each upgrade (or is this happening
already)?

This already happens :)

One further solution that may help in fixing this would be to turn off 'load icons for all results' in the 'Appearance' preferences.

Derek - interesting that you're finding the same issue on 10.6 and a newer Mac. Thanks for the info, we'll definitely look into it

I also have 'local icons for all results' off, 'load previews' off,
'superfluous visual effects' off :P
