I just installed Quicksilver and am thrilled with the utility. I do
have one question/feature request.

I must use Entourage 2008 to access an Exchange mail server. I am
interested in the ability to simply type in an email address and have
the system open a compose window. Similar to how typing a URL opens
Safari instantly with that location. Is there any plan for supporting
Entourage 2008 in the near future? Also, when that functionality is
supported, will it allow this type of activity?

Thanks.

I, too, am interested in getting (or creating) a plugin or actions for
Entourage 2008. I second the questions asked here.

Work at this point is slow, so I wouldn't say there are any plans in
place.

Have you tried the existing Entourage 2004 plugin and found it didn't
work with 2008? I have neither so I don't know.

Good question. I attempted to install the plug-in but it just kind of
hung.

Howard,

I installed the plug-in but it doesn't appear to be doing anything. I
was hoping I could type a contact name and see it with an option to
email. No luck. Is that how it is supposed to function?

Yes. See the manual for details. It contains all I know about it.

For now, I am using the option of "Default" for the email client. I
will see if I can find the 2004 plugin and will let you know how it
goes.

If you dig around in Entourage's preferences, there is an option to
sync your Entourage contacts with Apple's Address Book. Enable that,
and you can use the Address Book plugin to access your contacts in QS.

Thanks, Jon. That will do the job for me at this point.

If someone can give me explicit instructions on how to do this, I'll
add it to the manual.
A screenshot of the option would be great.
Also, does the 2004 plugin not work with 2008 by default?

This is what the Contacts section of the manual currently says for
Entourage:

Entourage

The Entourage 2004 Module Plug-in provides similar but more limited
support for contacts stored in Entourage. Install the plug-in and
start Entourage and bring up the preferences. Under General
Preferences, Security make sure "Warn before allowing an external
application to access the address book" is unchecked. Now open the
Quicksilver Catalog and under Modules make sure Entourage Contacts
is checked and selected and click the [curly arrow] (Rescan Source)
button at the bottom. The Entourage contacts should now be in the
catalog, though in B51 it does seem to be a bit buggy. If the contacts
don’t appear, rescan the catalog.

Activate Quicksilver and start typing the name of a contact, it should
appear in the first pane. There is a Show Contact action that will
bring it up in Entourage. At least in B51 typing → will not show the
details of the contact. Other actions that do Email and IM should work
as well. Note that the email actions use the default Mail application
and this is set in the General tab of the Mail.app preferences (also
set the Email Handler in the Quicksilver Handler preferences).

Thanks.

Click on Entourage --> Preferences --> Sync Services (Under General
Prefs) --> Check box for "Synchronize contacts with Address Book
and .Mac" --> Select Address Book from dropdown.

Ok, I have this info and I got a screenshot of the preferences. One
more question. Does the Entourage 2004 plugin allow the email actions
(compose and send) to work? If not, how do you use Quicksilver to send
email? Do you just use send directly or do you configure Mail.app to
send email? Thanks.

Once I finish this, I'll put out a new update of the manual with this
and many other changes.

This does appear to work. When I select the option for Compose it
opens an Entourage compose window and I am able to send.
