Legato NetWorker is Now More Convenient to Install
on Compaq Servers
PALO ALTO, CA, JULY 18, 1994-- Legato Systems, Inc. today announced a
worldwide agreement under which Compaq Computer Corporation will immediately
being shipping Legato's award-winning NetWorker backup and recovery software as
part of their Compaq SmartStart CD-ROM application. SmartStart's process
automates the purchase, installation and reliable configuration of systems
software on the complete line of ProLiant and ProSignia servers.
In addition to providing licensed Legato product, Compaq and Legato have
arranged for customers to use SmartStart to install a fully functional
evaluation copy of NetWorker as part of a SmartStart SCO Open Server
installation. This agreement provides users with streamlined software
installation integrating both software and hardware, and makes it simpler for
Compaq's customers to evaluate, select and install network-based backup and
recovery software.
John Paul, vice president, Systems Division, Compaq Computer Corporation,

standard networked backup solution for Compaq SCO Open Server solutions. For
users unfamiliar with Unix backup products, SmartStart customers will have the
option to easily and conveniently install functional NetWorker evaluation
backup software as part of their SCO installation," concluded Paul.
