Could anyone either recommend the best database software to use on the web
or recommend a 'reasonable' web database designer?

Thanks,
Annette :)

Howdy Annette,

The "best" and fastest data base is the ISAM (Indexed Sequential Access
Method) that's built into Quick Basic and Visual Basic. However, that means
running a compiled EXE on an NT system. It would probably not be reasonable
to hire me to do it.

What do you need handled as a data base? You may not need anything fancy.
There are several freeware Perl scripts floating around that will display and
search guest lists with a simple sequential file.

Annette, the best software is Oracle, although it tends to get a little
expensive. The next on is Microsoft SQL 6.5... Hope this helps
