Subject: FAQ - Advertising on biz -
Advertising on the Newsgroups does look complicated at first.  However I'm
sure you'll get the hang of it.  Some suggestions for posting your ads to
the biz.* newsgroups:

    1.  Look for the "FAQ - biz Hierarchy Charters -" on biz.general and
biz.marketplace.discussion and write down the newsgroup name for one or
two that look like the topic matches and it's okay to advertise.  The
way the biz newsgroups are organized, no more than three should match
what you want to offer.  If you can't find it on the newsgroups, try
    http://www.bizynet.com/faq-news.htm and look it up.

    2.  Go through the steps to subscribe to the newsgroups you selected
and read through the articles.  You should find an FAQ for the
newsgroup in the process.  Please read it to make sure your advertising
meets what's appropriate for the newsgroup.  Many news servers only
save a few days of messages, but you can try http://www.dejanews.com to
    find over a years worth.

    3.  If the newsgroup looks like what you have in mind, click on "Post
New Message to Newsgroup" or whatever it's called in your software.
Check the heading to make sure it's going to the right newsgroup.

    4.  If it's a short ad, you can type it in.  If it's a longer one, you
can compose the text first and cut/paste it into the text or import it
from a file.  I really recommend using your favorite word processor to
create the message.  Use a fixed non-proportional font (Courier) and
76 characters per line.  Then you can also spell check it before
posting.  When finished, use "Save As" to create an ASCII file you
    can use for importing.

    5.  Please make sure MIME and HTML are turned off before you send your
message.  Many folks use PINE or other news readers that do not support
MIME and your message may look terrible to them.  MIME encoded messages
will also usually get rejected on the Moderated newsgroups.  If you
attach a picture, that will definitely get cancelled and removed.

On the biz groups, it's best to post to each newsgroup individually rather
than multiple newsgroups per message (cross-posts).  Just about all of
them are moderated now.  When a Moderated newsgroup appears in the
heading, only that newsgroup will get the message.

Please post your advertising no more than once per week per group.  That
gives everyone a better chance at having readers.  With everyone working
together, we can make the biz.* newsgroups much more profitable.
