DIGITAL NAMES GWYN PUGH
VICE PRESIDENT OF MANUFACTURING AND DISTRIBUTION -- EUROPE
FOR THE SYSTEMS BUSINESS UNIT
MAYNARD, Mass. -- March 1, 1995 -- Digital Equipment Corporation
today announced the appointment of Gwyn Pugh as vice president of
Manufacturing and Distribution -- Europe for the Systems Business
Unit (SBU).
In this position, Pugh, 46, will be responsible for
competitively sourcing, manufacturing, supplying and delivering SBU
hardware and software products to Digital's customers in Europe and
Digital's partners worldwide. He will report to Charles P. Goslee,
vice president of Worldwide Manufacturing and Distribution for the
Systems Business Unit.
Prior to joining Digital, Pugh was a general manager and Board
member of Motorola UK Limited. In that position, he was responsible
for the initial start-up and very successful growth of Motorola's
cellular telephone manufacturing facility in Bathgate, Scotland.
Opened in 1990, as a green field site, that facility now employs
more than 2,000 people and has an annual turnover of $2B. Before
joining Motorola, he held senior engineering and production
management positions with Philips Electronics Components and Pye
Ltd.
Pugh holds a higher national diploma in Production Engineering
and is a member of the British Institute of Management.
