Subject: Problem in installing TEMU
Hi all,

I am new to TEMU. I am installing it but there is a step (Configuring
a new VM) , and i stucked into it. I am using Ubuntu 10.10 as host on
which i have installed temu as well as qemu. and in qemu i have
installed windows xp sp2 image(means i am running win xp as my guest
operating system in qemu). Now i am bit confused what to do next .
There are two steps
1) Windows based VMs
2) Linux based VMs

For which i should go........

Please help me in this.

Thanks
atims

If your question really is just which one of those steps applies to
your situation, it is an easy one, though perhaps this means I'm
misunderstanding. The host system for TEMU 1.0 is always Linux, while
Windows and Linux are the best supported guest systems. So the
"Windows-based" versus "Linux-based" terminology is referring to the
guest OS. In your case, your guest OS is Windows, so you should follow
the directions under "Windows-based VMs", inside the guest system.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for your reply.
Now I would like to ask that I have installed TEMU in Linux as host
system and using windows as guest and also copied testdrv.sys file to
windows system's specified path, but I have to run testdrv.reg file to
configure the driver. Then how it is possible to run testdrv.reg file
in Linux?

It is neither possible nor desirable to run the testdrv.reg file in
Linux. Like all of the steps listed under "Windows-based VMs", that
file is intended for use inside the Windows guest VM. Specifically,
that file consists of Windows registry entries that are used to inform
the Windows kernel about the Windows device driver testdrv.sys.
