We are considering running a CICS/TS partition that will run applications on a CICS 2.3 partition.
The CICS/TS partition would provide the logon and security, and the CICS 2.3 partition would own the programs and files.
Is anyone doing this?

Any and all comments are welcome.

Louis,
Have you considered moving the 2.3 apps to TS? It might be easier than
it appears.

Louis,
We are running CICS/TS for our own transactions. We are running CICS 2.3
MRO for third party transactions. We knew we could recompile all the
programs and maps (500-600 of them) and then run them in a separate CICS/TS
partition but we are a small shop running 8 MIPS. We analyzed the situation
in that before we were running CICS 2.3 for both setups back in 1998. We saw
that CICS/TS takes more horsepower than CICS 2.3 and being a small shop this
was a big reason. Also we didn't have to do anything to migrate the third
party products keeping the same CICS 2.3. We are still running VSE 2.6.1
installed in 1998.

Yes, I have an orphaned third party program that is macro-level CICS, so I
have to run it in CICS/VSE 2.3. I have an MRO connection between that CICS
and CICS/TS where the users log onto CICS/TS and invoke the program from
there. The MRO connection works fine.

No. Same cost for all. You get both CICS's when it is sent to you.
