Kathy,
I have heard from other students that Micro is very tough, but that
nothing is as tough as A & P 1!! I survived that, so hopefully I will do
okay in Micro.
What other non nursing courses do you need to complete?

I did this too...it was murder!!!! I don't recommend it...but then
again, now that I'm taking nursing classes, I realize that it wasn't all
that bad after all...I just didn't know any better at the time!

One thing I have learned in college/nursing school. DON'T TAKE OTHERS
EXPERIENCES AND MAKE THEM YOURS. When others say that something was hard
for them, it doesn't mean it will be hard for you. Please don't set
yourself up for failure by believing that micro or A+P are hard when you
haven't even taken them yet.
I found both to reguire allot of studying but nothing that I couldn't
learn. My first science was chemistry. I didn't even know what it was and
I had always heard that it was hard. But before I took it I said to
myself " How do I know it is hard for me ? " You know what, it wasn't.
And neither were any of the other sciences..I took 6 all A's.
It is more a matter of learning how you learn and how to study.
Go for it girls.....you don't know how it is until you try it !!!!

I find that you can put a positive spin on nearly anything, and believe me,
attitude makes a big difference! Good luck - and enjoy micro!

This is a good point. While I took A&P by itself in summerschool, I took
biochemistry and Micrbiology at the same time. Both of these classes
were study-intensive, just as A&P had been. However, the A&P supported
both classes well, and for the first month of classes, the content was
very similar and complimented each other. Basic cellular science is
almost the same for microbes and human cells. Because of this, I got off
to a good start in both classes, and that carried me through the semester.
For these "data-based classes" (My term, referring to the massive amount
of memory needed to pass tests), I found that study group was the way to
go. I had a study group of people who were all taking the same classes.
We all passed.
