Position Announcement: Managing Director: Yamada Language Center,
University of Oregon
The University of Oregon invites applications for Managing Director of the
Yamada Language Center, a new foreign language facility, which opened
January of 1991. It is a full-time, twelve month appointment and is
renewable. The salary range is $26-29,000. The appointment begins July 1,
1992 or as soon thereafter as possible.
We seek applicants with at least an MA in foreign language, foreign
language education, applied linguistics or a related field. Applicants
should have training or experience in the use of technology in foreign
language education, including audio, video, and computer applications. It
is desirable for the Managing Director to have foreign language teaching
experience.
The Managing Director works with students and faculty in the the use of
video, audio, and computer technologies in foreign language learning and
teaching. This includes both routine management of day-to-day operations
in the center as well as the development of training programs and other
activities to support foreign language faculty. The Managing Director also
helps the Director to administer operations and activities.
