Seven images. The purpose of this gopher is to
provide access to information (both data derived
from VCR/LTER research and about future
activities) to ecological researchers. Research
activities of the VCR/LTER focus on the mosaic of
transitions and steady-state systems that
comprise the barrier-island/lagoon/mainland
landscape of the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Primary
study sites are located on Hog Island, Parramore
Island and mainland marshes near Nassawadox VA.
The VCR/LTER maintains a laboratory facility in
Oyster, VA.

The Blacksburg Electronic Village is a project to
link an entire town in Southwestern Virginia with a
21st century telecommunications infrastructure.
This infrastructure will bring a useful set of
information services and interactive
communications facilities into the daily activities
of citizens and businesses. This database has 4
images under an education directory.

I make a living as a physicist/programmer while
sneaking time to do my art. This show is an
attempt to bring those two very different halves of
my life together a bit. In the future I would like to
explore "art under the influence of computer
networking" in a way that takes into account the
fact that it is very different to download a scanned
image of a painting than to see the same painting in
a gallery, or to actually hold it in your hands. For
the moment this show is more a vehicle to get my
art seen than an actual essential element of the
artwork itself.

and global change studies. GLIS includes directory-

Folks, we're now announcing for public access a set
of files available for anonymous ftp, containing
scientific quality weather satellite images. We
have a regular collection of Japanese GMS images,
both in IR and visible light. These images are
received at a ground station at Hickam AFB, HI, and
processed at the University of Hawaii, then moved
to an archive site at NASA Ames Research Center,
Moffett Field CA. From there, they are copied to
shadow archives sites. Each archive site contains
the last 4 days worth of images transmitted by the
GMS satellite on a revolving basis.

available on the Internet in near-real-time.
The National Operational Hydrologic Remote
Sensing Center is distributing satellite snow data
derived from AVHRR and GOES for major portions of
the U.S., southern Canada and Alaska.

the east coast during the March 1993 blizzard, and
of the midwest during the July 1993 flood, and
