PRINTER w/o PC in Netware?

In the UNIX world, you can place a printer anywhere without having
a PC attached to it, you just string a serial line to the printer.
Can the same be done in the Novell world?
In other words, do all printers in a Netware environment have to
be attached to a PC?

responds to Novell queues. We also recently bought HP's JetDirect Card
which connects a laser printer on the network via thinnet or 10BaseT.
Neither solution requires a PC. Getting the PC out of the printing loop is
why we bought them. The Netport II cards have been working quite well for
over a year now and I have complete faith in HP equipment.

The answer is: heck, no! We don't have a single printer on
our Netware network that is hooked to a pc. We have HP's with
the Jet Direct cards and Compaq Pagemarqs with the NETLINQ option.
Check out the HP 4si/MX. That's network ready. Just string a
10-base-T wire to the card...

both Ethernet and Token Ring connections directly to HP laserjet printers on
our network. You can also buy Intel ports that let you connect into the
network line and connect a printer or 2 printers without using a PC.
