The workshop is open to all staff from New York City
museums, and will be held on Monday, March 27th at the
American Craft Museum, which is on 53rd between 5th and 6th,
on the south side of the street, across from MOMA.
The workshop begins at 3:30 PM, and ends at 5:30. There will
be five presenters:
Eric Siegel, yours truly, will moderate and give an
introduction.
Arthur Tisi, who is the head of the systems department at
the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will talk about their plans
and current practice for access.
Martin Weiss from the NY Hall of Science, likewise.
Frank Scanga, the System Administrator from NYBG, will talk
about the NYBG network, the home page we are just finishing,
etc.
Robbin Murphy of ArtNet will provide the perspective of a
maker of Web Pages, as well as the perspective for smaller
museums.
As this is only a 2-hour presentation, it will necessarily
be only a partial discussion of the issues. I hope to get to
people who are truly mystified by the whole thing, and at
least give them a few pathways to understanding what is out
there (here?) and how to get to it.
There is no charge for the workshop, and I hope that I'll
meet some Museum-L people face-to-face there.
I'm sorry for the late notice, our email connection was
down...
