Bio-bibliographical information for Sammy (Samuel Louis) Nestico that appeared
in the February 1989 issue of the Instrumentalist was incorporated by William
Rehrig in The heritage encyclopedia of band music (Westerville, OH: Integrity
Press, 1991 ; vol. 1, p.551-552). Nestico highlights:
* b. 4 February 1924, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
* 1946: earned music degree from Duquesne University
* 1950: band director, Wilmerding (Pennsylvania) High School
* ca.1951-1966: staff arranger, United States Air Force Band, Washington,
D.C.
* ca. 1966-1971: staff arranger for United States Marine Band
* toured with Woody Herman and Tommy Dorsey when on military leave
* 1968: composer and arranger for Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures,
20th Century Fox, Walt Disney, MGM
* more....
