I hope that someone out there has a better memory than I. I am in a
short story class this summer and seem to remember a story about a
young couple (the man was a writer.) The wife befriended an old man
whom the husband did not like. The old man played the lottery and
was robbed and killed. The wife found a winning lottery ticket in her
husbands closet and burned it because she thought he killed the old
man to get it. I'm venturing a guess at O'Henry because of the
greatly foreshadowed, but greatly expected "O'Henry" ending. I
would appreciate any assistance in finding the title of this story and
possibly a volume in which it may be found.
