The only Amiga laptop that I ever heard of was years ago. CBM
wouldn't let them license the chips. [ like Agnus, etc.]

Book: C. J. Cherryh 'Pride of Chanur'
I remember reading not so long ago in 'Amiga Format' that though
C= had said that a laptop Amiga was possible, it was not feasable
as a marketable machine, apparently for something to do with the
power consumption of the custom chips or some such thing.
Personally, I don't know about the truth of that, see as how the
Amiga's brick uses the same ammount of power (doesn't it?) than any
other machine's power supply..

This is one of those BS stories which still floats around. ANYONE can buy
the Amiga ChipSet. no problem here.. You just call C= and say 'I would like
1500 pcs of all Amiga custom chips'.
Problem was it was not possible to make it useful since the powerconsumption
of a portable Amiga would be way to hi for portable use.

And I thought Asians only produced IBM clones..
Something is about to happen... Something wonderful
Buying 1500 pcs of the chipset is not getting a license to use it in
your own product. I read an article in .info magazine several years ago
wherein CBM said they wouldn't license their technology for the
requesting company to make an Amiga laptop. The company that was trying
to get CBM to license them using the Amiga chip { Agnus, etc } were
disappointed. It isn't BS, I don't post rumors or BS. I still have all
of my copies of .info magazine. I'll look it up, if you would like me
to. Briwall started advertising the laptop, then the license attempt
failed, so they had to stop. .info magazine had a 'preview-type'
review in one of their issues consisting of a photograph,
specifications, and other information. Later, JimP.

I have to disagree with you about this being a BS story. If it is,
it is a very well documented one! Look into back issues of .info
magazine, and you will discover that a company was advertising the Amiga
laptop. If you look into the next issue of .info they carried a
statement from Commodore stating that although they would be willing
to discuss licensing, they had not come to an agreement with the
manufacturer of these laptops. They also stated that if this laptop
appeared without their consent legal action would follow.

I also saw an amiga laptop being demonstrated at the first AmiExpo in
NYC, but it was in reality an Amiga portable that was housed in a
case similar to a suitcase! It never appeared on the market for
obvious reasons!

If I remember correctly about 5 years ago one oof the engineers at C= made their own laaptop. I believe it was in an old Amazing computing,
or maybe an Info?????? Basicaly it was a 500 motherboard with alot of hardware hacks. Doest anyone else remember this article?
.info magazine did a 'preview' article on the Amiga laptop. When the
3rd party company tried to get CBM's approval, it was not forth coming.
