Hi,

I'm a first-time poster to EDTECH, so here is a brief introduction. I teach
in the English Department at the University of Central Florida with
specializations in Caribbean and multi-ethnic US literature, education and
development, and an appointment to the PhD in Texts and Technology. I also
direct UCF's Haitian Studies Project, which focuses on networking,
curriculum development, research, and cultural programming related to Haiti
and Haitian American issues in Central Florida. Stemming from my interests
in Haiti and educational development, I am working on a project using mobile
learning applications to bring soil testing to rural Haiti.

Please bring to the attention of your students interested in advanced study
the University of Central Florida's Ph.D. Program in Texts and Technology.
The application deadline for admissions for next fall is January 15,
2010. The Ph.D. in Texts and Technology program is part of a growing
interdisciplinary field combining scholarly study, creative production, and
assessment of digital media texts. The curriculum emphasizes theory and
practice in new media supplemented by historical scholarship in pre-digital
media studies.

This innovative program prepares students for research, teaching, and
program development. Areas of research and production include digital
editing, Web design, multimedia production, distributed education,
entertainment, publishing, information architecture, and visualization.
Graduates from the Texts and Technology program have gone on to such
positions as: Assistant Professor of English, Assistant Professor of Digital
Media, Director of Course Design and Production, Dean of Distance Learning,
and Managing Editor.

For more information about the Texts and Technology Ph.D. Program, visit the
T&T Webpage: http://english.cah.ucf.edu/graduate/tandt.php or contact the
Program Director, Dr. Tison Pugh, at tp...@mail.ucf.edu.

Thanks!
