I've never posted here before. I don't know if I am doing this right
- so forgive me if I mess up. I am a bit desperate.
Long sad story. I bought a new HP computer in February. Almost from
day 1, it would freeze occasionally. As time progressed it got worse.
It would just freeze for no reason an no matter what I was working
on. Sometimes the web page or email would just start to flash.
Sometimes it would click continuously. Often the client based email
would just pack up and close in mid-message. Quite by accident I
discovered that simply hitting the control and alt button would
unfreeze it. No need to do the whole control-alt-delete routine. The
other nasty trick..... I would fill out online forms, and everything
I would type would simply disappear for no apparent reason.
I fought with HP for months. Sent it back 3 times. They were
always able to recreate the problem - but could never fix it. AS soon
as I hooked it up - it would start all over again within 24 hours.
Finally, they sent me a brand new computer. I have just hooked it up
- and it is doing exactly the same thing.
Obviously it is not the computer after all. It must be either the
hardware I have or the software I donwload. The printer is an HP - so
should be compatible. So is the monitor. All purchased at the same
time as the computer. I have a new netgear wirelss router. I have
new Seagate Free Agent external harddrive.
What on EARTH could be the problem? Any ideas gratefully accepted.
Could it be one of the programs I typically download - iTunes, Open
Office, Firefox or Picasa?
