Hi Folks:
Does anyone know where I can find current information/tips for setting
up/managing a course using the free WordPress (wordpress.com) site (example
would help as well). I have done this before but really didn't use all the
features I probably could have, and some things are new, like the grade book
module. All help is greatly appreciated you can respond online or to me direct,
cs-c...@wiu.edu.
Thanks in advance!

You might want to check out edu20.org. It is a remarkably robust and easy
to use CMS system - and it's free.

Hi Matt
Are you saying that edu2.0 is actually wordpress with add-ons?
All the best

Matt and Sean,
Matt, thanks for the tip to http://edu20.org . I've registered and it looks,
as you say, as robust as Moodle and without the server admin headaches.
My only reservation before giving it time: stability, up-time, speed, basic
reliability. Have you been using it for long?
Sean: I run my own self-hosted Wordpress install and love it as a blog, but
I'm not aware of it being anywhere near ideal for full hybrid or elearning
-- quizzes, forums, etc. Last I checked, Wordpress.com doesn't allow users
to instal WP plugins, as that's only for self-hosters. IMHO, I'd seek a more
versatile tool than Wordpress.com for a CMS -- though I plan to link
small-group Wordpress.com blogs to the homepage of whatever CMS I choose
(right now Ning, maybe edu20.org if it passes the reliability test, since it
allows quizzes and things Ning does not allow).
I don't want my students to blog in a walled garden; but I do want a
platform, walls or none, that allows richer assessment options than a blog.
So I'm looking to use both.
Best,

Nope. Edu20 is an alternative to wordpress. It is a free learning
management system. I've been using it for two years - and it's great.

Clay:
You might touch base with Daniel Rezac, who waxes rhapsodic about Edu20.org
in this blog entry:

He also has a fascinating, impassioned appeal here:
