Lesley University is a non-profit institution with an urban campus in
Cambridge, MA. It was founded in 1909 by Edith Lesley. She started the
Lesley School to teach kindergarten teachers in her home!
Lesley University has grown from the small Lesley School to a full
university with undergraduate programs (Lesley College), Graduate
Programs, Doctoral Programs, Professional Development and the Art
Institute of Boston (AIB).
Currently, Lesley University is approved to offer programs in 23 states.
Lesley University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools
and Colleges (N.E.A.S.C) and is accredited by Teacher Education
Accreditation Council (TEAC). Many of the individual programs are also
approved by other organizations:

I have worked with several teachers who graduated from Lesley. They were
dedicated and fabulous. The program allows young people to go to school
and get experience teaching while getting their MA in Education. I would
always consider hiring someone who had been through their program.

I did my practice teaching through Lesley in the 70's when it was a great
place for Education credits Wellesley didn't offer. The website says it
was founded in 1909, but I didn't see in a quick scan just now the
accreditation information. It is just down the street from Harvard, in
real life, part of the Boston/Cambridge academic megalith.

Hi Jeff,
I usually don't respond to anything on this mail list, however as a Lesley
Alum (M.Ed. in Educational Technology) I felt the need to reply. I checked
out Tracy's link and it works fine for me. You may want to try it again,
perhaps through a different browser.
My experience with Lesley was great! I did the 2 year (one weekend a month)
program in the Seattle area. I enjoyed staying with the same cohort for the
entire program, professors flying out to us from across the country, and not
having to give up as much family time as I would have with a traditional
program like at Seattle University. The weekends were INTENSE...but then
again, it was just 1 weekend a month :-) I would highly recommend the
program. Four teachers from our school went through the program at differing
times and all strongly stand behind it!

I run the admission office at a school in Cambridge that "hosts" several
Lesley interns each year and they are always an impressive group. I am
also pursuing my masters in Ed Tech from Lesley on-line and the experience
has exceeded my expectations so far.

Hello Randy,
Lesley University is non profit, in Cambridge MA, and well know for
its high quality programs for teachers and others. It is chartered by
the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to confer degrees. Also, it is
accredited by the various regional agencies that accredit other
Massachusetts universities--I have found the Lesley courses I've taken
to be very helpful....
