Dear Easter,
Take a look at the resources on the Texas A&M University Worldroom website
related to digital stories and documentary development. There are examples
and lots of resources. See the basic handout for making a digital story
using free software, "Making a Digital Story in Windows Moviemaker."
Windows Moviemaker is availble on all PSs, also included is a basic photo
editor. Mac has a similar program for developing a video, i-movie.
Audacity is a freedownload and easy to use.
I hope that the presentations and the digital stories on the World Room
website will be useful to you and your students. You might want to take a
look first at the mini-lessons. I have used the pedagogical approach very
successfully. http://worldroom.tamu.edu/DigitalStoryResources.asp

Digital stories in the presentations are in a Windows Movie Maker format
(.wmv). The examples in the gallery section for digital stories (personal
narratives) are in Quicktime format.
Stories and documentaries at

were created by Texas classroom teachers at a summer workshop. My workshop
audience includes many social studies teachers who are often more
interested in a thematic story than in personal narrative. Related

successful 2010.

Welcome to Aggieland
If you can use the Internet there are tons of free options.I use google
sites in my classes to highlight a variety of multimedia tools, students
use the site tools to embed flickr, you tube, delicious, and library thing
tools, then document the activities. These are all free. We also use the
free mindmeister mind map tool, animoto videos (they have a full feature
deal for educators), and the Prezi presentation and Gliffy diagramming
tools. These are all free too, you need internet for all though which
might not work for you, but I thought I''d relay the info.
Here is a link to one of our main project sites.
