Thank you, Alix! This sounds like a good possibility, but I'm wondering
about having students access my iGoogle page, even with a new tab added with
just their content. For instance, if I were to put my iGoogle page as the
'homepage' on all of the computers in my room so that students can use the
links to get other places (like a homebase), would they be able to edit the
settings and add/delete widgets? Some of my students are pretty creative and
very...FAST. I've looked around and can't seem to see anywhere that I could
prevent the page from being edited if it is available. Do you have any ideas
on this?

Hi Corrina,

Your concerns are well-grounded! When I first thought about the
possibilities of iGoogle, I thought about putting it on every computer in
my lab - but no. I asked my tech staff about using it as the default IE
home page image, but kids could still delete gadgets. I even asked the
educational representative at Google about this and she said there were no
plans to implement iGoogle in such a way.

So, I see iGoogle as a teacher tool on a teacher computer. If one doesn't
have an LCD or Smartboard, the iGoogle resources would have to be shared
verbally or as a slide show perhaps. With an LCD or Smartboard, the
resources are much more available as an entire class resource, as directed
by the teacher.

There are some interesting uses of iGoogle as an aggregator for students
to put their research sources on so that they can share them with their
classmates or so the teacher can check the sources for validity. In this
case, each student has their own iGoogle page. Here's some links to
iGoogle possibilities in the classroom.
