Shortly after our daughter Siobhan (DS) was born in April 1998, I came
across a web page on the 'net. There was a large image I believe near the
top of the page, and basically it was a painting (looked like it was from
the Renaissance - late 1400's - 1600's A.D.) of Jesus with several cherubs
(child-like angels) hovering beside and above him, as well as a cherub below
him to his left, gazing up at him. I seem that this particular cherub had DS
facial features, and that the accompanying text said this artwork was the
earliest known depiction of DS. I have failed to re-locate this painting
ever since. I have poured over countless art history catalogs at the local
library as well as various searches of art databases and galleries on the
'net, all to no avail...
Can anyone recall this image? Can you send me an address (URL) to such
an image?
Thanx; Zeke
P.S. I have found several other DS related images already, and display them
on our web site
http://www.telusplanet.net/public/gzobatar/ds_art/ds_art.htm ) and wish to
add this one...

Sorry, group. I should have been more specific in my description. The
painting I'm thinking of showed Jesus as an adult (male); with the cherubs
beside, above and below Him...
Thanx for all your suggestions and advice so far! -- Zeke

This isn't what you're after, but a couple of years ago Alberto Monteiro
posted an interesting link to the list.

The Portugese version has some pictures, and the English version has a very
interesting narrative.
There was a lot of interesting discussion at the time,so you might want to
check the archives for DS in Medieval Art.
