Praised be Jesus and Mary!

We're inviting you to begin with us a Novena on October 24th, to conclude
on All Souls Day, November 2nd

The novena is for our apostolate, "Children of Medjugorje".  We feel there
is much we can do for Our Lady in this time remaining before the beginning
of the Third Millenium - but we will only be able to accomplish anything by
grace, i.e., through prayer.

My wife was recently in the hospital.  While there she discerned - as did
others when they prayed for her - that it was only prayer that she would
pull through.  Doctors said she had the worst case of colitis they had ever
seen.  (By mistake she had been prescribed 2 different kinds of penicillin
at the same time - which destroyed all the good bacteria in her body.)  The
whole time our family was  surrounded grace!  And, praise God, she made it.
She's all better now!

Yesterday during prayer, Cathy felt that it was the same situation now for
"Children of Medjugorje" - only through prayer would we be able to continue
onto the next step of the plan (the hope) Our Lady has for us.  In fact,
Cathy sensed that - just as was her case during her sickness - it would
only be through prayer that we will be able to make it and continue.

Knowing of your love for Sr. Emmanuel, and that you also see the importance
of her charism to reach hearts with the messages and love of the Gospa of
Medjugorje - we're asking you to join with us in prayer during this Novena,
praying (and perhaps doing some fasting) for 9 days (October 24th through
November 2nd) for the Souls in Purgatory.  The deal we make with them is
that the Souls - then in their turn - will intercede for "Children of
Medjugorje" so that we will do the job God wants us to do during these days
that are still given to us in preparation for the Great Jubilee of the Year
2000.

(We would be grateful if you also asked anyone you know who spends time in
prayer - especially prayer before the Blessed Sacrament - to join us in
this novena for our apostolate, Children of Medjugorje.)

All prayer from the heart will work pwerfully for this novena...
particularly prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

We will also be praying the prayer for the Souls that Our Lord taught Sr.
Faustina for the 8th day of her Novena to the Divine Mercy:

"Today bring to Me the souls who are in the prison of Purgatory, and
immerse them in the abyss of My mercy.  Let the torrents of My blood cool
their scorching flames.  All these souls are greatly loved by Me.  They are
making retribution to My justice.  It is in your power to bring them
relief.  Draw all the indulgences form the treasury (64) of My Church and
offer them on their behalf.  Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer,
you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off
their debt to My justice."

Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I
bring into the mode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in
Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make
retribution to your justice.  May the streams of Blood and Water which
gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of the purifying fire, that
in that place, too, the power of Your mercy may be praised.

From the terrible heat of the cleansing fire
rises a plaint to your mercy,
And they receive comfort, refreshment, relief
In the stream of mingled Blood and Water.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering gin
Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus.  I
beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus your Son, and by all the
bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded, manifest Your mercy
to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny.  Look upon them in no other
way than through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we
firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion.
