Here is an old oil painting I purchased at the Salvation Army last week. It
still had the $2.50 garage sale sticker on it. That means that probably 2
days worth of G-sale shoppers passed it over....just weren't interested, not
even at happy hour prices.

What do I know about art? Not a damn thing. I shagged
(or some such variation on that theme) an art teacher one summer....that's
as close as I've come to it, that and visiting a few museums in Amsterdam
(hoping culture was catching, i guess). I suppose art is lot like blues
music...many are those who pass it by, shrugging it off
as being something old and mostly useless, while some of us see/hear what
makes it special and endearing as
an art form.

Here's my painting by H.A. Driscole...the one no one
wanted for $2.50 (it has a tear and needs a cleaning).
Then click on the auction below that to see what another
oil painting--of the same subject matter--by this same painter is expected
to bring at an upcoming art auction
in Maine. I guess blues, and what is the blues to you,
is a lot like what good art is to some, and not to
others......undefinable.
