ARLIS/Montreal-Ottawa-Quebec Chapter
Fall Meeting 1998 in Montreal
Friday, November 20

Theme: "Media arts and technology"

Members of ARLIS/MOQ as well as representatives from other chapters of
ARLIS are invited to attend this meeting hosted by the Musee d'art
contemporain de Montreal, located downtown, at 1495, rue Jeanne-Mance
(Place-des-arts metro station, Jeanne-Mance exit).  Aspects of contemporary
art will be explored,  particularly emergent art forms and practices
experimenting with new media (Internet, cd-rom, etc.).

The day will begin with a lecture dedicated to network art by artist and
teacher Ginette Daigneault.  It will be followed by the chapter's business
meeting, lunch, a combined bazaar and auction sale organized by the
ARLIS/MOQ Fundraising Committee, and visit to three artists' centres  -
Artexte, Videographe, and Vox Populi -  located at 460, rue
Sainte-Catherine ouest, a few blocks from the Musee d'art contemporain de
Montreal.

For those who may be interested, the Musee d'art contemporain will be featuring:

* an exhibition,  "Le corps et l'objet: 1984-1997"  by artist Ann Hamilton
(7 October to 17 January 1999)
* an extension (to be confirmed) of the dates of performance by
choreographer/dancer Marie Chouinard to include the evening of 20 November.
