"THE BOX"

I'm going to be creating what I call "THE BOX" Some of you may have
heard me mention this before. THE BOX is a small computer, donated to
the LUG for any LUG member to barrow and use.
THE BOX is designed to be an Instant Network device (for a lack of a
better word) to act as the following:
- Firewall
- DHCP
- DNS
- Possible LDAP
- FTP (Ubuntu ISOs, plus)
- SAMBA Fileshare
- Ubuntu Mirror
- LUG featured webpage (SQUID?)
It can be used for our install fests, LAN Parties, LUG demo events, and
probably some other things I can't think of right now.
Currently I have a small compaq computer with one slot for an IDE HD, no
CD ROM (or room for any), one network port, KVM ports, and a bunch of
USB ports. I'd like to be able to put a Large HD and possibly another
USB network adapter. The idea is it can small and portable.
If anyone has any hardware or ideas to donate, let me know. I'll build
this first and then if we can get better stuff, we can build onto it.
