Indeed it is, Eric. I was inferring that I'd take it without batteries and purchase them separately.
I've got nearly a fully self-hosted network going (except for email, which I use Google Apps for). Pretty much everything in it is free or cheap, and I have an incredibly limited budget for upgrading/fixing it, so I've settled into doing everything piecemeal. The server primarily using the UPS already has failed drives due to a previous power outage, so I'm working on getting it back to the point that it can be used again.
At this point in my story, I generally would link to something on my website (
http://crazedsanity.com) that would explain some background... but my server has been down all morning due to a power outage last night. The formula: 10-year-old "server" + home PC UPS + too many "servers" attached == at least one dies.
I'm sure you didn't want to know all that... too late. ;)
