I'm going to need ~250 ft of cat6 cable to wire the new house, and am
waffling a bit on purchasing 1000 ft. I can purchase 1000ft from
www.monoprice.com for $88.33 + shipping ~$15-20. Lesser amounts are
significantly more per foot. Would anyone want to go in with me and
divide the cable evenly? I'd be interested in one, maybe 2 others, if
there are such. They also have fairly economical cat6 keystone jacks
and wall plates, so if someone wanted to do some structured wiring...
Just a Thought,
James

Hi James,

I'd take half, or more if you would like.

I too am going to be redoing my house with CAT6. However, I am going to
be purchasing something like this:
http://www.costcentral.com/proddetail/Cable_Manufacturing_EXTREMENET_1000_BASE_T_550MHZ_CAT_6_SOLID_STP_1000_FT_RED_SHIELDED_PVC/NSTPSD61000RD/10986608/

it's rated for 550 Mhz, and it's shielded. Like you, I probably won't
use all 1000ft. But, I'm not sure how much I'll use just yet. Maybe
250ft as well? Not counting shipping, a quarter of $275 is about $69. It
is more expensive, but
again it is shielded and rated for 550Mhz. You're call.

I'm kinda thinking I'm going to forgo the expensive stuff, Eric, My
data just isn't really worth that. How much would you want, Brent?
I'd be happy to split it evenly or if you want more, I'd like to have
a fair amount left over after the install for other purposes. Tell me
what you want and I'm sure we can make it work.

James,

I don't have any particular amount in mind, but I use cable on a
fairly regular basis and it doesn't hurt to have another spool on the
shelf. So I can take some or none, I don't have an urgent need, but
I'll help out with any amount if it works out.
