Nate,

No pressure, I know you're busy, so whenever you can get to this let
us know.

I'd like to start a wiki for a LUG members and see where it goes. Would
it be possible for BTI to give us some more space for a MediaWiki App?,
pointing to wiki.bismanlug.org?

The idea came from my limited experience and use of media wiki in our
office for documentation. We talked about it at the hamfest and I
decided it would just be handy to have around to tweak things. Like
"what to bring" to the hamfest or freedom software day. We keep refining
things year after year, but it's sometimes hard to remember everything
that went right or wrong.

After a while, we might decide to amplify our usage of the wiki and
these ideas might better help us decide how our actual webpage might be
re-designed.

I have no problem installing and maintaining the wiki (doesn't the wiki
really maintain itself). Unless someone wants to volunteer to take on
the job for me.

Let us know if this can or cannot work out, in a couple of weeks (^_^).
No pressure.

We have a new place we should be moving to. I can set up a wiki there,
and that may even force me to actually move the web site too.

Is mediawiki the one you really want? I personally prefer FOSWiki. For
one thing, it has a wysisyg editor which AFAIK mediawiki does not have.

Yes - BTI hosts a Solaris Virtual Private Server for use by the LUG.  It is running Solaris 10 update 8.  It has been allocated 512MB of RAM, 50GB of disk space, 1 CPU thread (1.0GHz UltraSPARC), and 1 public IP.  We are free to use of for whatever we want.

IMHO, I'd prefer wiki.bismanlug.org, and then auto jump to that site via
bismanlug.org/wiki

We can have unlimited DNS entries in the bismanlug.org DNS zone so we can certainly have wiki.bismanlug.org.  Robert - the IP of bml01 (the virtual server) is 207.243.68.136.  I'll create an A record for wiki.bismanlug.org pointing to this IP.
